All this week we are profiling some of the young creative people who have been shortlisted for The Creative 30. Today we look at Joanne Robertson, 28, an artist and musician from London.
“Robertson
flows like a river. She wears her heart on her sleeve and paints and sings
directly from it. She is a natural. I would like to be more like her.” – Martin
Creed, conceptual artist.

Joanne Robertson originally hung out in Blackpool’s punk and metal bars, but fled to
Paris when drugs started destroying her circle of friends…
From the Glasgow School of Art she joined a noisy rock improv band, I Love Lucy. After traveling across America, Joanne formed the Blood ‘n Feathers collective at The Slade with Lucy Stein. Their art has been featured in the prestigious Becks Futures 2006 show. She recently released her debut album, The Lighter.
