Miami’s Breakroom

Though you can’t really go wrong with books full of pictures, there are lots that you flip through and go, “Yeah, that’s nice,” and then there are the few that stick with you for a while, because they actually educate you in some way. Basically everything that OHWOW puts out is in this latter category. It’s subtle, don’t be scared, you can still enjoy the images without any PTSD flashbacks of that draconian statistics class you nearly failed. In fact, you can even gather together and socialize while doing this, if you’re in Miami this weekend yukking it up around all the art.

OHWOW’s throwing a party for the release of their three latest books: Tim Barber’s Untitled Photographs, a collection of serene and fantastical images from 15 years’ worth of work; Leo FitzPatrick’s Not Garbage, highlighting the ongoing contemporary response to Dada collage artist Ray Johnson’s output; and Luis Gispert’s Decepción, which documents the miserable ouroborous economy of counterfeit designer lust. Extra bonus: all three of these guys will be there, signing copies. It’ll be Art Basel’s breakroom from the bullshit.
