Rohan Hutchinson’s “Kanazawa Study” is Clean, Cool, Awesome

When Rohan Hutchinson goes out shooting, he doesn’t do local and he doesn’t pack light. Rohan ships his 8×10 camera and enough film to rack up about 15kilos of carry on. He photographs buildings, walls and cement structures in cities like Hokkaido and Beijing. Most recently, Rohan completed an artist residency at the centre for Art and Architecture in Kanazawa. The resulting body of work, giant photo collages that give an overview of 500 years of architectural practice in the area, is clean, cool and awesome. His show ‘Kanazawa Study’ opens on Thursday night at The Colour Factory in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Come drink a beer and look at them real big.
