Twenty four people reportedly overdosed and were hospitalized after consuming a THC-laced candy at the EST (Everyone Stands Together) Festival in Butler, Ohio, a town about 90 miles southwest of Cleveland. No one who overdosed appears to have lost consciousness and those affected are recovering.
Tara Molina, a reporter for WEWS news in Ohio, has a photo of the alleged candy and reports that some, “were eating the entire bag.”

Despite the fact the candy has tested positive for THC, those who overdosed were initially treated with Narcan which counteracts overdoses from opiates like heroin and oxycodone. When the Narcan proved to be ineffective, officials tested the candy and detected the THC. Officials have not yet confirmed if the THC was synthetic.
According to news reports, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man named Matthew Lee Gross in connection to the incident. Gross faces charges for drug trafficking.
