AHL Game Devolves into Chaos, Full Line Brawl

Things got very out of hand between the Hershey Bears and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL Saturday and ended in a full line brawl. When the video starts, events have already been set in motion, though it’s a slow burn. There is a lot of grappling and hugging and not much else, but it’s clear everyone wants a piece of everyone else. The referees seem to have things under control and begin to escort players to the appropriate penalty boxes, but it soon becomes clear they most certainly do not have anything under control.

A few highlights:

There was a goalie fight, but it was a total disappointment.

Bridgeport’s Scott Mayfield was put into the penalty box but orchestrated a daring escape and started fighting again.

And, finally, a Sound Tiger who who was wrapped up with one Hershey Bear, actually wanted to fight another Bear and was punching his current opponent while telling the other Bear to come get some.

When the dusted settled, referees doled out 192 total penalty minutes and the Bears, who are affiliated with the Washington Capitals beat the Islanders’ affiliate Bridgeport, 4-3.
