In anticipation of BadBadNotGood’s third album (III), the released single ‘Can’t Leave the Night” is a lucid dream under the influence of Bernard Herrmann’s petrifying and calculated musicality. Toronto’s studied jazz-trio has driven the school marching band into voyeuristic night-ravagers, with vibraphone-reverbs beautifying intimate fears. It’s another rung on the ladder of progression that BBNG has found themselves climbing in the past few years, and with continued output such as this, it’s interesting to wonder where exactly their ceiling lies.
