With a simple majority of votes in second ballot, Gianni Infantino of Switzerland is elected FIFA President until 2019.

Voting is over. Here’s how things shaped up:

Results of 1st ballot: 27 votes for Prince Ali; 85 votes for Shk. Salman; 7 votes for Jérôme Champagne; 88 votes for Gianni Infantino.

All four candidates are now through to a second round of voting, per FIFA’s electoral guidelines.

Vote on FIFA Reforms

Earlier in the day, FIFA voted on and passed a wide range of organizational reforms (reforms that Salman, in his subsequent address to the FIFA Congress threatened to undermine). Here’s a little video FIFA put together outlining the reforms.

Outspoken FIFA critic and Skins chairman Jaimie Fuller got kicked out of the Congress.
