Here’s what we’re listening to while we told you what to listen to this week.

Tom Vek —“Aroused”
I’m trying to stop smoking because it’s FILTHY and when I think of my lungs as a swamp of icky, inky tar it makes me want to barf. However, having to actively think about not smoking reminds me of Tom Vek’s video for “Aroused,” which is the best use of sucking on a stick of death on film that I’ve seen maybe ever. It’s sultry and sexy and strung out and dirty and the song makes me want to bounce off the walls. Sidenote: This video is directed by Saam Farahmand, who is a genius because his work always makes me want to do stuff. For instance, his Soulwax/2Many DJs doc, Part of the Weekend Never Dies, makes me want to go out and dance forever, his Klaxons video for “Echoes” makes me want to stringently enforce a ban on bands pretending to play electric instruments in the wilderness, and his video for “Hustler” by Simian Mobile Disco makes me want to make out with girls.

Impalers — “Apparitions”
Shout out to the kind folks at 540 Records for a very kind package in the mail… the new Vaaska/Skizophrenia split (ruling) and the much-anticipated LP by Austin punks The Impalers (mem Hatred Surge, Vaaska, Power Trip, more). Presented in sweet, die-cut packaging, the latter LP is a whopper and well worth the measly $15 for the 22 minutes of charging, blood-thirsty hardcore that hasn’t left my turntable all week. Stream it now.

Jerome LOL — “Yellow” (Coldplay Cover)
Yeah man, I don’t even know. CMJ sucks, life sucks, and this is a cover of a song that sucks, but Jerome LOL manages to take Coldplay’s suckitude and send it on a robot salvia trip, stretching and reworking the melody and his own voice to resemble something a lonely, undead astronaut from 2178 would listen to while masturbating, and I mean that in a good way.

J Bizz — “Bitter Sweet”
I know nothing about “J Bizz” other than his twitter bio, which states, “I MAKE THE MUSIC YOU DANCE PARTY AND FUCK TOO.” Regardless, this is the most played song in my iTunes library because it is perfect.
