That song from Leprechaun in the Hood
Last night I saw mothafuckin’ Body Count. Sorry, Noisey Presents: Mothafuckin’ Body Count. I am required by law to say that. Lots of highlights, including the New York national anthem “Cop Killer,” people losing their shit to the 2014 summer troll-murdering banger “Talk Shit, Get Shot,” and a massive dude in BC security telling me to step the fuck away from Coco. But my favorite part as a lover of terrible movies was the guy in front who kept yelling, “Leprechaun! Leprechaun in the Hood!” to which Ice-T responded very Ice-T-ily: “Nah, fuck Leprechaun! Suck my dick!” But the dude kept pushing it. So Ice called him out, as seen in this video I took. So let this be a lesson to you: If you’re gonna catch Body Count on this tour, which you should because they ruled, don’t yell out anything about Leprechaun in the Hood or SVU because Ice ain’t having it. Not sure about Tank Girl, I was too scared to find out.

The Midnite Society – “I’ll Hold On”
Of all the unconventionally genius things that Dipset has done in their career, the mixtape Dipset Trance Party might be the most unconventional, and the most genius. Dipset Trance Party is literally exactly what it sounds like—Dipset-affiliated producers, trying their hands at blissed-out, Balearic rhythms. They’ve put out four of these fuckers since 2011, and they all have their various merits (aka, HOW FUCKING WEIRD IS THE CONCEPT OF HARDENED STREET DUDES TRYING TO CONVERT THEIR KNIFE FIGHT READY BEATS TO FRIENDLY ASS TRANCE), but no Dipset trance slap will ever slap as hard as the first one. Remember, it’s not a party unless it’s a trance party, and it’s not a trance party unless it’s a Dipset Trance Party™.

Drake – “0 to 100”
What an eventful weekend for world events. The world cup has begun, and, way more importantly, it’s my 24th birthday tomorrow. You know how I’m celebrating? By playing nothing but “0 to 100” all goddamn day. Despite the fact that this song features the lyric “I should probably sign to Hit Boy cause I got all the hits, boy” I continue to champion it, because I’m from The 6 and am therefore unable to critically listen to any song by the Beige God. Also, to bring this back to myself, I’m low key upset that I will no longer be able to relate to any of Drake’s great lyrics about being 23. I guess your Jordan year is the last time you’re allowed to publicly flaunt your age. Everything after this is just something I’m expected to do. Time to grow up. WAAYYYY UP!

How to Dress Well – “Words I Don’t Remember”
I went to see How To Dress Well’s record release show this week, and, rest assured, our friend Tom has some bangers on his hands. And by bangers I mean both actual bangers and songs that will make you weep uncontrollably. But you don’t have to wait until it’s out to hear the ultimate banger, “Words I Don’t Remember,” which came out earlier this spring and slowly took over my brain this week. I’ve seriously caught myself humming the wordless part at the end about ten times a day. Let all of this come cascading down on you because it’s such a real song about real relationships, and it feels so enormous that you want to belt it out at full volume while also sobbing at full volume. This is a good line for a song to tread. Have a great weekend lol.
