Brooklyn’s Living Room was formed as a side project near the end of vocalist/guitarist Scott Fitzpatrick’s band the Marine Electric, but he didn’t have to look far to find some new band mates, because Kevin Dobbins, John Nicholls, and Fred Trumpy all lived with him at Suburbia, the basement of an apartment building in Bushwick that’s quickly becoming legendary among punk venues around the country.

The band’s first EP, Dream Journal, made its rounds on the internet upon release in 2012, but on Moonchaser, the band takes a huge step forward with their catchy brand of punk songwriting that brings to mind early Braid and Mock Orange, as well as contemporaries You Blew It! and Prawn. On “Crystalline,” the band is at its best, blending energetic, quick parts with groovy melodies, while Fitzpatrick effortlessly throws out lines like, “There’s a subtle plans / Degrees to which I understand it.”
