Montrealʼs Karneef is a one-man powerhouse that gives you a lot to look forward to in his music. Heʼs a killer drummer, smooth guitarist, weird dancer, and an artist who always pushes the visual component of his songs to a whole new world of insanity. Proof of this can be found in the video for the glossy, art pop track “Space”, a stunning collaboration between Karneef, director Phoebe Greenburg, Montreal’s Phi Create and Renata Morales
In the video, Karneef becomes his own four-piece band, performing in a space that shifts from weirdo Cirque Du Soleil acrobatics, to gyrating babes whose kinky costumes border on some Eyes Wide Shut type of freaky. Karneef keeps it soulful and sexy, cloudsurfing through the madness and sometimes finding himself right in the middle of it. Every so often he anxiously chants “I need you to give me space”, a request youʼll find to be totally reasonable after seeing this dazzling freak show get weirder at every turn.

If youʼre wondering just how much weirder it gets, thereʼs also a brief homage to Missy Elliotʼs “The Rain” video mid-way through. “Space” is off Karneefʼs latest album, Love Between Us.
