The Reds lost to the Indians 7-3 last night and apart from just losing, they were pretty salty with what they felt was an inconsistent performance from home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez in calling balls and strikes. So, when it was time to exchange lineups at home plate and shake hands with the umpires, Reds manager Bryan Price did not shake anyone’s hand. Instead, he wound up in an argument with a different umpire, crew chief Jim Reynolds, presumably about the strike zone and wound up getting tossed before the game even started.
Usually the bench coaches exchange the lineups before the games, so Price was obviously looking for the argument, but it still seems just a little bit ridiculous to throw a guy out of a game before it even begins. Just as a purely philosophical matter, how can one be thrown out of something that does not technically exist yet? A non-game tossing also highlights the absurd performance of physically indicating to an entire stadium that someone has been ejected.

The good news, though, is maybe Price unleashes another 77 fucks-filled rant after the game.
