Live, Rush Midnight operate as a trio, but really the music comes from the brain of one Russ Manning, a Brooklyn-born, jazz graduate who used to play bass with Twin Shadow. “Take Me There” is louche and exceptionally chill—all warmly treated, several times layered vocals, and a sinuous, rich bassline. Sonically it makes total sense, that Rush Midnight’s next show is at Art Basel in Miami on 12/4, opening for Toro Y Moi’s side project Les Sins.
