On September 9th, 24,000 inmates across the United States launched what they say is the largest prison strike in the nation’s history.
We spoke to Bennu Hannibal, a lead organizer in the protest against poor living conditions and forced labor. Hannibal is currently in solitary confinement and although his prison has not gone on strike, he’s used a smuggled phone to inspire prisoners across the country to take action.
