If you’re still feeling the bitter sting of winter, Montreal’s Daniel Isaiah will make you feel even worse. Come Into Gone, Isaiah’s sophomore album, somehow manages to fuse the poppy sappiness of Katy Perry with the more earnest sonics of The Shins. Take “Information Blues” for instance. Throughout the course of the album, the listener explores the pain brought from crushing weight of a breakup, prods the emotions of a jilted lover, and wilts with the sadness expressed by Isaiah. Come Into Gone ultimately blooms with promise and closure, demonstrating the fight and resilience of the human spirit.

When asked about the album’s creation, Isaiah said, “We worked twelve-hour days at The Pines, the studio where Come Into Gone was recorded in 2013, but I could have gone longer. Time passes quickly inside of the studio. Closed off from the world, with a few close friends, the lights dimmed, the amps humming, you get lost in the work. The only hard part is stopping. I have no idea where this music will go or whose ears it might reach, but for me, creating it was a labour of love that redeemed an otherwise unhappy and desultory year. Thank God for music.”
