Salvador Dalí had clocks, René Magritte had men in suits, and Andrew Archer has basketball and racecars. Archer, working with his design studio, UNA, imagines surreal scenarios that explode onto the page in a flurry of neon purple, green, and fuchsia. The opulent 80s are boiled down to an aerobics video color palette plastered over America’s favorite passtimes—fast cars, outrageous hair styles, zombies, and defying the laws of physics. The occasional cosmic hand or Native American spirit animal brings the entire coke-fueled decade to it’s logical conclusion: utter, retina-burning chaos.
