Sign language meets finger painting in the Handmade Type, the new typography by designer Tien-Min Liao. She devised an alphabet in which letters are shaped by painted hands, taking it a step further by using the same paint configuration to signal both upper and lowercase letters.
That means that the painted hand sign that makes a capital “A” also makes a lowercase “a.” She even went as far as including italic forms. Proper nouns and movie titles everywhere are thanking Liao for her consideration.
