Wayne Rooney gave Manchester United a brief 2-0 lead over Aston Villa with this twisting scorcher. Ángel Di María went racing down the near side and hit a cross into the middle of the penalty area. It was a little high but Rooney speared it out of mid air with his left foot, had space enough to let it bounce, and then whipped around with his right foot for an explosive finish on the half volley.

Christian Benteke got the goal back almost immediately thanks to some pretty shoddy goalkeeping from David de Gea but Ander Herrera got the goal back in extra time and United beat Villa 3-1.
