C’è gente che dice che l’unica ragione per la quale The Weeknd piace ai bianchi hipster è che i bianchi hipster non sono invitati alle feste con le ragazze di colore super burritose e arrapanti che si drogano e bevono champagne nelle piscine e fanno un sacco di sesso all’ultimo piano dei grattacieli e quindi quando The Weeknd canta tutto freddo e distante e glaciale di come quella vita sia, alla fine, triste e solitaria e deprimente, i bianchi hipster possono dire LO SAPEVO IO TANTO NON CI VOLEVO ANDARE A QUELLE FESTE ECCO UFFA, che è un po’ vero. Ma anche un po’ no, perché 1) quelle feste sono effettivamente, veramente deprimenti e 2) perché anche R.Kelly e Ginuwine, che invece ci sguazzano proprio in quel mondo, piacciono ai bianchi hipster, quindi tutta la vostra teoria dove la mettete ora? Il punto è che ai bianchi piacciono i neri (e anche i non-neri!) che cantano bene. Tipo da forever.
